The first pitch in The United States Over Thirty Baseball League was thrown in the Spring of 1986. The brainchild of founder and Commissioner, Bob Delahant of Point Pleasant, New Jersey, the league began play with just 60 players and 5 teams. Today the league boasts of more than 1000 teams and 9,000 players, playing in different programs under the U.S. Over Thirty League banner.

The U.S. Over Thirty League was one of the first programs in the country for Adult Baseball players who thought that their baseball days were behind them. Through organization and competition, the league has set the standard for adult baseball leagues.

    » When will the games be played?

    All games in the Over 30 league will be played on Sunday mornings. The Over 40 Sunday program will also being in April. The Over 40 midweek league will be played on Wednesday nights starting at the end of May.

    » How much will the league cost me?

    Every player will pay a $90 registration fee. The fee must be paid by every player before he can participate in any league activity. In addition, every player will be asked to contribute to a team fee. This fee will vary depending on how many players the team has and if there is any sponsor money involved. Most players pay less than $250, counting the $90 registration fee.

    » How will I be assigned to a team?

    In order for you to be assigned to a team you must sign up as a free agent. The league will then inform the teams in your area that you are a new free agent. Many times teams with high profile programs will have an established roster. Most players new to the league will be assigned or selected by teams that play .500 baseball and are lose to their home. You will be selected or assigned sometime in March. Once assigned to a team you will be asked to pay the $90 registration fee.

    » How much playing time can I expect?

    Most teams operate with 12 players. On any given Sunday, you  may be missing a player or two. We do allow all teams to bat every player with free defensive substitutions. This provides for very little down time.

    » How competitive will the league be?

    Most players have played High School Baseball. Some have played in college and we do have a few ex-pros. The average fastball in Over 30 is normally between 68-72mph, while the speed in Over 40 is somewhat slower. We have players with all different skill levels. Your team assignment is based on where you live and skill level.

    » Will there be double headers?

    The Over 30 league will have 3 double headers, while the Over 40 Sunday league will have no more than 2 double headers scheduled. The Over 40 mid-week league will play all single games.

    » How far will I have to travel?

    The leagues are broken down into divisions based mainly on where the teams are located. Most games are no more than a 20 minute drive from your home.

    » How old must I be?

    If you are 27 now and will turn 28 by December 31, 2012 you will be eligible to play Over 30. If you are at least 38 now and will turn 39 by December 31, 2012 you will be eligible to play Over 40. If you are to young check out our JSBL AAA 18+ program.

    » When will the season begin and end?

    The season will begin in April and you will play through September.

    » What will my fee cover?

    All players and teams will be provided with insurance, umpires, baseballs and fields. The league will provide all league and playoff games.
